Officer’s Reports

President: Kim Gravely and Catherin Martin
  • Open Offices for 2012-13 (2 year positions)
  1. First Vice President – Home and Garden Tour, we will have it next spring (2013).  You will only do this once during your two year term.  Holiday decorations and potted plant containers by the pool in the summer.
  2. Second Vice President – Auction December 2013; you will also only do this once during your two year term.
  • Field Trip opportunity: Martha sent me a meeting/event idea that Catherine McCrary sent her.  Gibbs Garden – Jim Gibbs, the founder of Atlanta-based Gibbs Landscaping Company, will open Gibbs Gardens, his 300-acre estate gardens, as a public garden on Thursday, March 1, 2012. Before this, it was invitation only.  They have 16 garden venues; including a Japanese garden, water Lilly Garden, and the largest Daffodil Garden in the country.  They will be open Thursday-Sunday March – November from 9:30-5.  It is 41 miles or 55 minute drive according to Google Maps, near Big Canoe.  Their website is excellent and the garden really looks unbelievable.  $20/person.

  • Thank you for decoration the neighborhood entrance. 
o   Second VP – Lisa Gill
  • Auction – We raised $13,500 for Pebble Tossers!  Lisa and her committee did a fantastic job and the event was a big success.  The next auction is December 2013.

o   Treasurer – Jenny Schulman

o   Secretary – Amy Sand

o   Programs  - Robin Cochran

  • All meeting dates and topics are listed on the Redfield website.
  • February 21, 2012: Be Patient Ready, home of Jen Guynn: Robin Cochran will email out more information before the meeting.
  • March 20, 2012: Emily G’s Jams of Love Story and Cooking Tips, home of Joanna Apolinsky
  • April 24, 2012: Spring dinner, home of Robin Cochran

o   Hospitality - Martha Keim: End of the year dinner has been moved to April 24 at Robin Cochran’s house

o   Luminaries – Robin Isaf and Janna Benston – Great job!!
  • There were 2 squad cars full of donations from Redfield and $1000 was raised that will be donated.

o   Yard of the Month -  Lauren Black and Brooke Taylor

  • December: Katy Asip
  • January: Julie Moyers

o   Publicity/Website – Vicky James    

o   Inspiration – Cary Kresl:  Cary is an inspiration to us all.  She is in Guatemala this week on a mission trip, building two houses and doing arts and crafts with local children.

o   Horticulture – Ashley Mast
  • Handout attached with January pruning tips and activities at the Dunwoody Nature Center and the Atlanta Botanical Gardens this winter.

o   Sunshine – Paige Meier and Becky Springer

o   Neighborhood Garage Sale: Anne Blount is working on organizing an event most likely in April.  More details next month.

  • Update information on Dunwoody website Smart911
  • Check home phone bill to make sure $1.50 for 911 is going to Dunwoody Police

o    Topic and Speaker: "Figuring Out Trader Joe's!" by Sherri Von  Beheren: A big thank you for a an excellent and informative job!
